Job Title: Surgical Suite Floor Technician

 

Position Summary: As a Surgical Suite Floor Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a sterile, organized, and safe environment within the operating room suites. Your primary responsibilities include cleaning and disinfecting areas within the surgical suite, assisting with equipment and supply management, and supporting the surgical team to ensure the highest standards of patient safety and infection control are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Sanitation:

  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain sterile operating rooms, patient rooms, hallways, and other designated areas within the surgical suite.
  • Adhere to established cleaning protocols, ensuring proper use of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Follow infection control standards to prevent contamination and ensure a safe environment.
  • Dispose of medical waste, soiled linens, and other materials in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Regularly sanitize and maintain surgical equipment, furniture, and fixtures to prevent any risks of cross-contamination.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and fully stocked environment by restocking supplies and managing equipment placement.

Equipment and Supply Management:

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining operating rooms by setting up necessary equipment, ensuring proper storage, and ensuring everything is ready for use.
  • Monitor and restock inventory of supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Transport equipment and supplies to and from the surgical area as needed, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with the safe movement of patients and equipment throughout the surgical suite.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with healthcare staff, including nurses, surgeons, and other surgical team members.
  • Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or discrepancies in equipment to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while providing support to the surgical team and patients at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of infection control protocols and cleaning standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to lift, move, and transport heavy equipment and supplies.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or surgical environment is preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to [specify weight] pounds.
  • Must be able to perform tasks in a sterile, clinical setting.
